Texture synthesis has been one of the hottest areas in Computer Graphics, Computer Vision and Image Processing fields. In this paper, we bring forward several new opinions and algorithms on texture synthesis.Firstly, we introduce some notions, techniques, and recent development in the texture synthesis field. Secondly, we present some basic theories and methods of fractal geometry, which provides a basis for the research wok of the succeeding chapters. Thirdly , we analyze existent algorithms deeply, some comparisons summarizations about the ideas and transacting range and defects of these texture synthetic algorithms are drawn.Then the thesis presents a texture synthesis approach based on fractal theory. This method requires only the sample texture as input and can synthesize by pyramid algorithm and histogram matching as much as texture as desired, which matches the appearance of the sample texture. The approach is based on a model of human texture perception, and of practical significance on computer graphics technology.After that, we present the algorithm sample-based on Markov Random Field (MRF) model. A method for automatic recognizing can get the appropriate size of neighborhood based on Statistics is also presented, which can decrease the number of input parameters and be convenient for user's operating in texture synthetic algorithms . the texture synthesis result can satisfy the requirement of the texture quality and synthesis speed as well.Finally,the future works about the technique of texture synthesis are introduced.
