It is true that H.323 network, SIP network and soft-switch network will be long-standing all together. Therefore, it is most important challenge in communication research domain that complete inter-working between all together those multi-protocol communication networks is solved to the core. It is Next Generation Network (NGN) that can be based on to solve this inter-working problem. As well as NGN's layered framework, it is unforced that the research of compatibility of Multi-protocol communication networks will be carried through layer- independently. Using the function of lower layers, the service layer implements its service logic. Its processes is mainly made up of as follows: first, address resolving and routing, second, transforming between one protocol's message and another protocol's all together, third, compatibility of call model and protocol's messages. In the case of multi-protocol communication networks, without question, the processes are more complex than one-protocol communication network's.This paper is made up of for chapters:The first chapter briefly introduces background and context of inter-working between next generation network and tradition network and this paper's frame. The second chapter research the compatibility of multi-protocol communication networks on address resolving and routing based on NGN. Using TRIP, this paper design and implement the inter-working projects between H.323 network and SIP network. This paper also provides protocol middle-ware that can be used to complete transforming H.323's messages and SIP 's messages all together. The third chapter is mainly concerned with compatibility of call model and protocol's messages. The call model reflects the communication properties in terms of a call-processing facet and a connectivity facet. The call-processing facet uses a basic call state model (BCSM) and the connectivity facet uses a set of call segment connection view (CSCV) states. The paper analyses the compatibility of between BCSM and H.323, SIP protocol. This paper designs the mappings of SIP, H.323 and H.248 to CSCV model. Lastly, this paper design and implement the MCU 's control module. The fourth chapter sum up the whole paper and presents issues for further study.
