With the rapid development of information technology, modern educational technology centering on Multi-media, computer and network technology present higher demands to the styles and methods of modern education, which necessitates the network Multi-media data-base auxiliary educational system to the development of today's Multi-media education. Due to the deficiency of ineditability in the traditional Multi-media teaching courseware teachers cannot fully exhibit their characteristics in the teaching process. In the teaching courseware the repetition in the teaching material making process renders vast amount of waste of both human and material resources. Meanwhile, it is less worthwhile to repeatedly use the teaching materials and the Multi-media courseware is not suitable for the transfers through network. Thus, it is urgent to design and develop a Multi-media educational system based on the basic-mechanics database.The article targets at a basic-mechanics database system under the network environment. The system includes the modules such as the clients' management, content combination and courseware displaying and editing, among which the editing function to the combined contents is the point of creativity. The system using the Multi-media materials in the Multi-media teaching database, constructs the teaching courseware database to meet the educational demands of different levels and purposes. It characterized in the clearer teaching framework, better flexibility, reliability and mutuality. The system promotes the wider application of Multimedia technology into the teaching field. It brings with it richer, more flexible and convenient teaching and much-increased efficiency. The research achievement fits for the computer auxiliary teaching and long distance education of the basic-mechanics series courses.In the article the author projects a network Multi-media auxiliary teaching system based on basic-mechanics database. The system adopts the browser/sever 3-level system structure withthe background database management system of SQL Server2000; develops the Web database by means of ASP3.0+ SQL Server2000 and visits the database through ADO components and ASP mode. The background SQL Server2000 database server is used to store the basic-mechanics courses-related Multi-media data such as script, pictures, voice, animation and video frequency. The foreground is with ASP's Web Multi-media teaching system and material database editing system. The system enables the teachers, by using the Web application, to combine and edit the materials from the database so to construct the teaching software of basic-mechanics series courses which includes the principles of mechanics, mechanics design, geometry precision design and inspection technology and so on. The software greatly facilitates the teachers and students since it provides them with the full possibility of preparing for and studying the courses through the network.
