The Research And Practice Of The Delivery Multimedia Integration Framework (DMIF) In MPEG-4

With the wide, successful application of Internet and the coming of multimedia communication time, all kinds of software and hardware researches and developments based on MPEG-4 have been one of the main development directions. Kinds of applications based on the standard are in an active phase. For example, recently some big software companies like the Microsoft, Apple, RealNetworks all have developed their own MPEG-4 streaming system and have competed in this field. Although in our country there are some companies that are taking for MPEG-4 streaming system development, the area of streaming transport is still insufficient.Emphasising on introducing the terminal architecture and system decoding model in the MPEG-4 standard, this paper firstly tells the Delivery Multimedia Integration Framework in the standard in detail, then provides a transport layer framework model for specific protocol based on the other researches, lastly through analyzing the MP4 file format, discusses deeply how to realize the DMIF using RTSP/RTP of IETF.Through using the Object-Oriented technology, the paper analyzes the MPEG-4 file format, at the same time it does some research and real work in the area of networking transport model. These works can be referenced by further research and development based on MPEG-4 streaming system and are valuable.
