The High-speed Reading And Interpretation Of PDF417

The barcode technology has been developing rapidly since 20th century and hasbeen used in various application field. With the development of technology, the 1Dbarcode can no longer meet the society's needs because of its limitary informationcapacity and dependence on the database , so the various 2D barcodes came into use,among which the PDF417 barcode is most widely used. This paper discusses acquiring image of PDF417 2D with high speed andrecognition of it . Image is acquired by OV7110 image sensor under the control ofCPLD. This method can accelerate the speed of image acquiring. The barcodeimage is transformed into digital information and then transferred to the PC computer.The image of PDF417 2D barcode is processed by the program on the PC computer.Then the image is further segmented to locate the single codeword image and it'srecognized by projection algorithm. The result shows that the performance of the system is good, which suffices tothe requirement of the practical use.
