Train wheelset is the one of most important inter-changeable components in the vehicle,plays key role in safety of railway transportation,but in our country.the wheel is still measured using hands leading low efficency. In developed countries such as US,Japan. Advanced research has been done and many Measurement Equipments has been developed, thus high efficiency and economics. With the development of the industrial control technology and information technology, Railway transport meets Great challenges.This paper mainly introduced an non-contact measurement of wheelset dimensions using CCD image measuring technique. And software system of train wheelset parameter measuring device has been researched. This paper clarifies image collect automatically process of multi- channels, and pre-processing process of original image in order to noise reduction. In image processing, method as follows will be introduced in this paper: a method combining image threshold iterative segmentation with threshold interpolation, edge detection operator Sobel and LoG, edge linking method using delation operator based on mathematical morphology, using boundary tracking and projection method in edge distill process. Through this method, measurement of wheelset will be met precision demand. In system standardization processing, this paper adopts non-linearity model, and impove measurement precision. Finally, measurement result precision passes trial validatation and analysis, and meet request of measurement.Software of this project development on the Windows 2000, wheelset parameter measurement based on image processing has realized, all functions also meet system request and stabilization of software has tesed.
