The coupling criterion for single-mode POF and silica fiber doesn't exist because single-mode POF hasn't been applied widely. However, the capabilities of single-mode POF or Bragg grating of the POF should be tested in the laboratory, the coupling for single-mode POF and silica fiber is required, then the properties of single-mode POF and Bragg grating of POF can be tested in the laboratory.The principle and realization of auto-coupling system for single-mode POF and silica fiber is introduced in this paper. In this system, from analyzing the feedback data of optical power and picture, two fibers can be accurately coupled. Then, the properties for single-mode POF or Bragg grating of POF can be tested. The system consists of four parts: PC control part (heart part), three-dimension moving platform, feedback of optical power, and feedback of picture.Besides, this paper also presents the dealing method of POF' end-face and the measurement of mode field, because the dealing research is included in fiber coupling. We analyze the effect by using different sand papers to rub the end-face of POF fiber. We also measure light intensity distributing of single mode POF' mode field by using CCD and lamp. The mode field distribution of end-face, gotten from the experiment, is accordant with theory.
