Requirements Engineering (RE) is a branch of Software Engineering, whose activities involve requirements elicitation, requirements analysis, requirements specification, requirements validation and requirements management. The Unified Modeling Language (UML), which is designed by Rational Sofrware Corporation and its partners, provides system architects working on object analysis and design with one consistent language for specifying, visualizing, constructing and documenting the artifacts of sofrware systems. The thoughts and methods in the UML have the directly guided significance and practically applied value for the activities of requirements engineering, as well as for those of software engineering. UML is the convergence of best practices in the object-technology Industry. And It Is a rich; precise, extensible modeling language for Object-Oriented system development and Software developing automation environments. UML is the representation of excellent software engineering methodology which is approbatory in large-scale and complex modeling field.Although system development flow is the background of UML application, UML is only a standard modeling language and not a standard development flow. Different organizations and different application field has different development process. During the course of software developing; requirement analysis is a decisive step. The lemma of this article is to discuss UML application on requirement analysis. Finally, this thesis builds the model of the Products Survey Management Information System (PSMIS) with UML.This paper firstly expounds the fundamental concepts and methods of software requirements engineering and of the UML. Secondly, based on UML, the paper describes the RE's practicing process and part outcomes of Products Survey Management Information System (PSMIS), and emphasizes particularly on requirements elicitation, requirements analysis and requirements specification.
