After researched and compared some kinds of D/A converters' architecture and discussed the advantage and disadvantage of all these D/A converters, we successfully designed an update rate of 50MS/s, 12-bit resolution D/A converter. The first chapter introduced the D/A converters' circumstance and the trend of development in China and foreign countries, and then the source of this subject,background of the research. In the second chapter, we discussed some kinds of D/A converters, included the voltage domain DAC, charge domain DAC, current domain DAC and segmented DAC, and compared the advantage and disadvantage of them. At last we selected the current steering segmented architecture. The circuit of the DAC we placed in the third chapter. This is the core of the issue. In this section we designed the cells of the DAC, including the decoder circuit, bandgap reference voltage circuit, current source circuit and switched circuit etc. The fourth chapter the simulations of circuit and errors of the DAC are discussedi, so the simulation waveforms are plotted on the paper and we must take the error corrections and minimize ways. The fifth chapter introduced how to draw layout and the area of the chip is 3.5*4.5 mm2.This research will be great useful for our country's researches to design the high speed, high accuracy D/A converters. In the future, our country could produce our advanced weapons used our own high speed, high accuracy D/A converters. It will make actively effect on national defense.
