Design Of The Simulator For Detecting Highway Traffic Incidents Automatically

Intelligent Transportation System(ITS) is a transportation system that integrated by many field technologies, just like information, communication, control technique, system synthesis technology and so on. It is applied in the transportation system. This system can operate real-time, exactly and efficiently in largest range.In ITS, the most important part is detecting traffic incidents automatically. Establishing advanced system of traffic incidents auto detection is one content of intelligent traffic searching.In this thesis, we setup a simulate system for detecting highway traffic incidents automatically on computer. The following is the details:(1) We analyse the traffic characters of drivers, cars and roads in traffic flowing, and also study the macro and micro parameters of traffic flowing including the relationship between these parameters. Then we give a definition for service level of basic section of a highway. And this definition gives us a theory that is the basis for design of simulator.(2) We built the central function and configuration of simulator, and make detailed description of the establishing the mode for traffic flowing system. Then we descried our design idea and content of simulator.(3) We make analysis and study on the theory of traffic incidents and the detection of them. And then setup configuration for traffic incidents auto detection system. We describe tolerance parameters of traffic jam and give arithmetic of incidents detection in paper.(4) We design the simulator by Visual Basic. This work is the most essential and complex work.(5) This paper gives the details of test of simulator. And we compare and analysis the result data with the actual data measured in highway. Theseconformed that our test is valuable. So our study is important for the searching of settling the traffic jam, incident and highway traffic problem.
