With the fast development of Internet, more and more people are focusing on the rich resources of the internet. Connecting and Visiting internet is the most urgent demand in IT today but it's limited by IP address. The next generation protocol IPv 5 is a good solution. It is expected that in the nearest future the usage of IPv6 in the Internet increase substantially.It is hard to see deploying IPv6 without some promise that old legacy networks will still be capable of connecting to the new IPv6 Internet, that because of the already existence of the massive amount of subnet for IPv4.In this thesis I researched and designed a transition gateway that have been proposed to provide transparency between IPv4 and IPv6 end-to-end solution.The thesis consists of 6 parts. Part I is technology background, my work in the thesis and some acronyms. Part II introduced the detail of IPv4 and IPv6 transition method. Part III analyzed related network protocols. Part IV analyzed the protocol of NAPT-PT. In part IV, the NAPT-PT gateway and DNS-ALG were designed with pseudo code. Finally the system limitation and future development were analyzed.
