Research On The Conceptual Design Process And Its Computer Assist Implementation Technologies

The phase of conceptual design has great influence on the whole process of mechanical design and manufacturing, which makes the scholars at home and abroad take great interests in the researches on the theory, method and application of conceptual design. The subject of this dissertation mainly researches the conceptual design process of mechanical product. It also discussed some methods and technology used for realizing the computer-aided conceptual design process by the example of building a mechanism conceptual design system.First, the thesis described the concept, content, characteristic of conceptual design and theories that concerned such as functional structure and principle design. Then the thesis analyzed the solution finding process of Function-Principle-Structure mapping in detail and established a general design process model of conceptual design stage in mechanical design based on the description.The thesis explained the issues of function representation methods, motion rule and principle design of mechanism in the conceptual design stage of mechanism design. It took the description of the conversion of input movement and output movement as the main representation method of mechanism functions in conceptual design stage and put forward a conceptual design process of mechanism design by combining the general conceptual design process model presented before.During the study on the realization of computer-aided conceptual design system of mechanism design, the thesis utilized some knowledge and technology in the artificial intelligence field such as knowledgerepresentation and reasoning. It chose frame combined with rule as the primary knowledge representation method for the conceptual design system of mechanism based on the characteristic of mechanism knowledge organization in the conceptual design stage.In the end, the thesis put forward a prototype of computer-aided conceptual design system of mechanism and discussed in detail the process and methods of frame reasoning and solution finding of the system under the control of the conceptual design process.
