IP (Internet Protocol) phone is a kind of digital phone. It takes new creative technology and becomes a carrier voice service. IP phone makes analog voice into digital voice, codes voice, packs voice into packet, decodes voice, and then transmits the packet based on packed net environments, which makes voice communication becoming reality. It promotes the net utilizing, makes the voice cost down. From that it develops very quickly.This paper introduces a IP phone system based on DSP and ARM Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) double core processor. DSP performs voice process part, including voice compression, echo cancellation, tone activity detection, tone detection and generation, voice packet, these are signal process scope. ARM RISC performs call process, protocol process, net management and user interface, these are normal process function.There is main point in this system is that its QOS(quality of service) of voice is comparable with PSTN voice. The system supports 100M Ethernet connection. You can add more applications on it by remote control. There is one thing deserved to be mentioned, the DSP and ARM care can be separated, the ARM core which has only 47. 5 MIPS performance can be replaced by another ARM core which has higher performanceIn theory, we also talk about that QOS of voice and time relay problems which always produced by different coder and decoder, which helps you design the system.This paper has five parts, the solution of IP phone, the introduction ofTMS320VC5472, the design and research of DSP subsystem, the design and research of ARM subsystem, the design and research of FLASH.
