Along with the continuously penetrating of computer network in every area of our social life, computer network has been an important infrestruture for our daily life. A perfect network management system is essential for the steady running of computer network. Meanwhile, the network monitor function is the foundation of network management system.Currently, the hierarchic or distributed network monitor system based on web has been a new trend of network monitor system. It provides a flexible and robust method of network monitoring with great efficiency.This paper srudyed the structure, implementation technology and application of hierarchic network monitor system based on web, Based on the study the author has implemented an antetype system. The paper emphasesd on the following issues: Integrating network topology automatic discovery and network performance monitoring into an uniform web environment via ActiveX control technique.
