The Research And Development Of Directory-Based Application System

With the development of Internet technologies, the computer network is becoming more complicated and larger, and the different network application systems and their managements are also complicated. Directory Service meet this need by its hierarchical structure, object oriented data model, and extensible and distributed characteristics. Directory Service can be applied to information publication, network device management, network application management, network security and so on.By studying the Directory Service and its applications, this dissertation concludes several existent application models about Directory Service, especially from the aspect of combining Directory with the network applications and their managements. Based on analyzing and comparing the advantages and disadvantages of forenamed models, it proposes a new application model, which intends to further combine applications systems with Directory, Then it designs and implements this model with the developing Web Services technologies.It also introduces several cases and their implementations on Linux, which are based on different models according to different situations. These cases include the applications which some are modified for integration with Directory and others are developed by us.At last, it will discuss some security issues about Directory Applications, and forecast the further progress of Directory Service and its applications.
