In Shenzhen Citizenship Center Building Health State Monitoring System, a new technology that using fiber Bragg grating to detect architecture strains is applied. But there are no domestic corresponding products or systems at present. While similar systems abroad are too expensive to be applied. And to implement high speed acquisition and processing of grating sensors' output signals is one of the key problems. In order to implement the acquisition and process of the grating strain sensor output signal, a signal acquisition and processing card based on TMS320VC5402 and PCI bus is designed in this paper. Corresponding software on DSP side and host side is programmed.With the development of computer technology, PCI local bus has obtained good reputation for its high performance, reliability, flexibility and low cost since it was developed. During the ten years of development, as PCI successfully meets demands of the industry and substituted for ISA and many other bus standards. It's appropriate to develop the signal acquisition and processing card based on PCI bus. TMS320VC5402 is a fixed-point digital signal processor, made by Texas Instruments Incorporated, which is 16-bit word length. VC5402 has enhanced Harvard architecture built around one program bus, three data buses, and four address buses for increased performance and versatility. With its flexibility, high performance price ratio and low power consumption, it can implement many kinds of real-time digital signal processing algorithm.PCI interface technology is firstly introduced in the paper, including PCI local bus system architecture, bus operation and other content. Also features and usage of AMCC S5920 used as PCI bus controller in the paper are given. Then relevant technologies about DSP are detailed. Since VCS402 is taken in the paper, features and functions are showed in detail.In chapter 2, the design of this card is illustrated and each function part is showed in detail. These function parts are composed of PCI interface circuit, DSP and S5920 interface circuit, four-channel synchronization sampling circuit, triangular wave output circuit and power supply circuit. In chapter 3, design of system software is given, which consists of program on DSP, driver program and software on PC. In chapter 4, the application of this card in Shenzhen Citizenship Center Building Health State Monitoring System is elaborated. And at the same time, other occasions where the PCI card may be used are introduced. Testing on the card indicates its performance is good, satisfying the design requirement.
