This article has made a deep research on the application of expert system in gas fractionation plant, to air separating devices, in order to make the whole system work in most efficient way, we must direct the work plan and the device parameters according to the changing environment conditions, including the price of raw materials, the demand of products, the working conditions, the device capabilities and so on. Because of this, we designed a special expert system embedded in the gas fractionation plant in order to optimize it. Compared to other optimizing methods, the expert system is more suitable to deal with this kind of fuzzy problem which usually need much of experiences. More over, we can get more optimizing choices by renewing the data base of the expert system.In the article, I discussed the structure and functions of models which composed the expert system and methods on how to develop them. At the same time by using C program language I finished this expert system efficiently, including knowledge expressing, multi-task completing, problem solving and interpreting on TMS. Additionally, I make emphasis on describing the BNF, which is a formation of knowledge describing language (KDL), and make thorough analysis on principle of syntax and grammar of KDL. I have analyzed the result of simulating field data from the expert system, the conclusion is that the expert system has outstanding effects on application in air separating optimizing system.In the last part of my article, I reviewed the previous contents and presents what should be done on next step.
