Process industry concentrates on the continuous process, involving a great deal of branches. In discrete industries, the architecture of CIMS is comparatively mature, but the complexity of process industry determines the complexity of its CIMS. With the improvement of CIMS architecture, the development of CIMS in process industries will be the emphasis in process industry innovation.One of the cores in CIMS is data integration, whose target is to share the data from different subsystem, to utilize the resource effectively and finally to improve system's performance. Because there are diverse data from different sources, such as real-time data, OLTP data and decision support data, many kinds of data processing technology are needed to support them.For the complexity of process industry, CIMS itself is not spread widely, let alone Data Warehouse technology. But with the development of information technology and candescent competition, Data Warehouse must become the necessity of process industry and be the most significant portion in the CIMS data integration.This paper discusses the architecture and data integration technology of CIMS in process industry. The main contents are following as:1. The concept, history and architecture of CIMS are introduced. The characteristics of process industry and concepts of data integration and Data Warehouse are discussed.2. Based on papermaking industry, the design of CIMS in process enterprise is discussed in detail, and a three-level architecture ofBPS/MES/PCS is presented.3. In the viewpoint of the three-level architecture of BPS/MES/PCS, the paper demonstrates the different data of the three level in process enterprise CIMS and the corresponding Data Warehouse technology, concentrating on the specialties and design tips of real-time manufacturing data, transaction processing data and decision supporting data, and interpreting the relationship among the three kinds of data. It is valuable for the CIMS implementation in process enterprises.4. Combined with the author's experience in projects, this paper discusses the application of Data Warehouse technology to process enterprise CIMS. Some new viewpoints about the architecture and construction methods of Data Warehouse are provided.5. To aim at the question in the construction of process enterprise Data Warehouse, the key technology applied to the data integration in process enterprises, this paper investigates the metadata management and the enterprise information classifying and coding. The new criteria and design of information coding are proposed.6. In the last part, this paper introduces the design and implementation of the produce-management information subsystem in a papermaking enterprise and the author's practice task. Then characteristics and the implementation technology of this system are summarized.
