VR is a kind of integrative technology related to computer, sense passing and measure, simulation, microelectronics. Employing the three-dimensional graphics creating technology, multi@sense interactivity technology and high-resolution display technology VR will create true to nature three-dimensional scene. Users with the help of data gloves, head mounted displays or the simple keyboard and mouse can touch, operate every object in the scene, go anywhere they want and do everything they like, as if he was personally on the scene. By now VR has been widely used in drilling, sightseeing ,shopping and gaming. The using of VR in mining is being studied.Based on PC platform, the writers develop a system for virtual integrative mining face by the technique of virtual reality. Thissystem creates three- dimension scene by use of OpenGL that is the standard of three-dimension graphics, and Visual C++ 6.0 that is a object-oriented language. It simulates the work conditions and production technics of underground work face, and demonstrates the production process in the form of real time animate. The visitors may enter laneway and mining face, enjoy the scene of modern mine, and understand the process of coal producing. The effect of stereo sight is evidence, which gives the participant the feeling of entering a real environment.The writer introduces Virtual Reality (abbr. VR) in this paper to be used as a new media in miner 's training to simulate the work conditions underground. It will solve the difficulty of miners' local training, and it will advance the miners' stuff and build up the miners' safety consciousness. The system has important significance on guiding the real production and training workers.
