Study Of Key Technology Of ERP System Of Babcock & Wilcox Beijing Company Limited

Babcock & Wilcox Beijing Co. Ltd. (BWBC) is a Joint Venture between BeijingBoiler Works (BBW) and Babcock & Wilcox Company in North America (B&W). It is thefirst joint venture in the boiler industry of China and was recognized as a "technicallyadvanced joint venture". Babcock & Wilcox Beijing Co. Ltd. was founded in 1986. TheJoint Venture has combined the advantages of both companies and formed a boilercompany equipped with advanced technology and capability of supplying power boilerutility. The products conform worldwide famous ASME code, and also satisfy therequirement of China to the power boilers. The products of the BWBC are manufactured according to the consumers. Thecharacteristics of the production are with the high dissociation of parts, complexity ofstructures, long period of manufacturing, and high cost. In addition the manufacture needshigh demands to the resource planning, ability in equilibrium, control of cost, consignmenton time and so on. So, the BWBC need an advanced tool of enterprise informationmanagement. Through the implementation of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), theintegration of all the enterprise resources, detail planning, and full optimum of theenterprise management can be realized. Therefore, the best service and economy benefitmay be obtained. In the meantime this work discussed the feasibility on implementation ofERP in the BWBC. It is indicated that the introduction of the ERP technology will furtherenhance the development of the advanced matrix management mode carried on currently inthe BWBC. According to the existing experience and mode of BWBC's advanced management,this dissertation has studied the key technology for implementation of ERE Theimportance is we must master the rule of movement of resources. Moreover, thecharacteristics of ERP for implementation in the BWBC is analyzed. Then, taking theEngineering Department as an example, It is proposed that the ERP must be combined toCAD/CAPP/PDM. Selection from computer, network, and database till to the ERPsoftware platform has been in consideration and the planning for the effectiveimplementation of the ERP has been established. This may be a basis for implementationin the BWBC. The implementation of the information technology will have importantaction for increasing the competition abilities of the BWBC.
