With the globalization of economic and rapid development of Internet, It makes the information very important to the enterprise. To improve the capability of competition, more and more enterprises have developed Management Information System (MIS).The unified modeling language (UML) is an industry-standard language to make a blueprint of software, which is highly effective for specifying, designing, constructing, visualizing, and documenting software systems. The Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) provides an object-oriented, distributed and cross-platform framework for developing and deploying robust, secure, reusable and scalable enterprise applications. Using the two technologies together, The Book&Archive MIS is developed.By comparison of different developing method and architeture of MIS, It makes decision to use object-oriented method and J2EE to build the Book&Archive MIS. UML and J2EE are introduced in brief respectively as the theoretic foundation for the next chapters. The Book&Archive MIS is developed according to the RUP. It introduces the whole developing process in detail, at the same time, it also introduce each functional module, MVC design pattern, DataBase design and the interface of the running system. The process incarnates the characteristic of RUP(use case driven, focus on architecture and increment&iteration). The Book&Archive MIS is modeled by using Rational Rose and deployed on the application server BEA Weblogic.Modeling with UML has become a trend in object-oriented analysis and design. J2EE technology presents a unified platform which simplifies multi-tier, enterprise application development. Through the study of UML and J2EE, a runnable system has been developed by Applying the two technologies together, which will be valuable to develop enterprise application.
