Currently, there are mainly two realizations of virtual reality: based on modeling approach and Image-based rendering method, which regard as the one of the Key technology of virtual reality. The method of Image-based rendering is directing use camera or video camera to get the real image to construct the virtual reality according to the same synthetic scene image to synthesis the panorama and avoid the complex modeling and rendering, which overcome the shortcomings of three-dimensional graphics methods and so provides an effective means to realize the virtual scene.This paper mainly studies cylindrical panoramic image which based on the rectangular block positioning mosaic algorithm and application in order to achieve Cylindrical panoramic images.First of all,it is mainly studied and analysis about two generation technology of virtual environment and basic generation theory of cylindrical panoramic image that includes the research of two realizations of virtual reality which are based on modeling approach and Image-based rendering method.It also includes the discuss to image preprocessing and analysis about traditional cylindrical projection and anti-projection algorithm.The author propose improved cylindrical projection and anti-projection algorithm based on the plan which is simple and easy to understand and have a good projection in the condition of traditional cylindrical projection and anti-projection algorithm have complex formula and large computation.Secondly,it is focused on the registration algorithm of cylindrical panoramic image.Also,it is mainly analysised about the advantages and shortcomings of of registration algorithm basing on modeling approach and Image-based rendering method and image fusion alogorithm.Finally,the author put forward cylindrical panoramic image which based on the rectangular block positioning mosaic algorithm in the case of image feature is not obvious and traditional image registration algorithm can not obtain good results,which make use of rectangle feature detection alogorithm based on hough transform to position the rectangle feature in order to image registration and realize the cylindrical panoramic image mosaic.The alogorithm make up the lack of application that the image feature is not obvious and can not be accurately registration.This paper achieved cylindrical projection and anti-projection algorithm based on the plan and demonstrated speed and accuracy of the algorithm which is based on hough transform to position the rectangle feature.And the experimental results show the alogorithm can quickly and accurately extract features rectangular and realize the cylindrical panoramic image mosaic.
