Based on the analyses of visualization applied to mine safety, a Visual Interactive System of Mine Safety is brought forward in this paper in an effort to fit the actuality and requirement of mines. The aim of the system is to ameliorate the shortcoming of the computer software used at present. The concepts of COM, WebGIS and vector format are introduced. The system is realized based on MMap, which is a vector map ActiveX component programmed from the bottom. This system realizes the function of vector map drawing and sharing on the web through Browser/Server, and realizes its integration with other systems, such as the process supervisory, safeguard supervisory and MIS, etc. The relevant lab test and field application proved the feasibility of the system. In a comparison with others, the system presents the following advantages. MMap is the first mine vector map ActiveX that realizes mine project map drawing and sharing on the Web or Internet. The developed technique in graph display fits the general trend in computer graph technique development from dot matrix graph to vector graph. The graph can be displayed on a single computer as well as on the Web. Thus a great cutback of maintenance cost can be achieved in the daily application and the system upgrading on Browser/Sever. This system takes the advantage of the information resource on the web, and provides a new management model for mine safety so as to lead both the work efficiency and scientific management of mine improved. Thus the potential can be expected for the system to have a bright foreground in mine production and safety management in the future.
