Abstract/Summary:
With the development of optical wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks, which have injected energy and vigor into modern communication networks. Optical multi ?wavelength networks have attracted much research interest recently and have been developing quickly due to their large bandwidth, their transparence of transmission code rate, data format and mode of modulation, their excellent possibility to upgrade , their simple and feasible management and powerful existence. This thesis discusses performance management in optical multi ?wavelength networks and the emphasis is power management . Because power management in this thesis aims at amplified spontaneous emission noise of Erbium 桪oped Fiber amplifier (EDFA) , the thesis introduces the simplified Stark ?split energy levels of Er3", amplified working mechanisms of Er3* and working performance of EDFA in details. Based on above knowledge, all kinds of traditional power management schemes are introduced. A novel scheme of power management and power equalization coming in for traditional power management anditerative algorithmic is proposed----dynamic total poweriterative equalization. Supervisor point is behind the postposition of power amplifier, optic signals coming from a tap of 99: 1 enter into optic spectrum scan module, then the power levels which have been calculated by iterative algorithmic are sent to power control module to guide a set of tunable electronic attenuators. The scheme not only has the virtues of simpleness and feasibility of total power equalization but also has the excellence of high precision ofiterative algorithmic. At the same time, the thesis emulates the novel scheme, which contains iterative algorithmic and output Power in the case of different input power level. In the end, the paper shows the design and debug of the software and the hardware done by the author.
