As space optical communication technology continues to evolve, erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) plays a vital role, especially in the high-power, high-speed rate of laser technology. The advantages and disadvantages of the performance of EDFA affect the communication quality directly, especially in its high-power output stability.This design first analyzes the amplification principle and performance characteristics of EDFA, introduces several techniques of gain control briefly and a circuit feedback method has been proposed for automatic gain control based on theoretical analysis. On the hardware circuit, this paper designs a drive circuit of the pumping source, temperature control circuit, PD detection circuit and optical power detection circuit. Use DSP technology combined with PID control algorithm to achieve the pump's automatic power control, through automatic gain control of EDFA to ensure stability of the output power, and achieve the communication with the PC. Finally, test and analyze the specific circuit to prove that the driving source can work stably, with a high control precision and fast settling time. The system can meet performance requirements. Efficient temperature control also ensures the using life of EDFA. |
