The thesis summarizes the characteristics of monitoring system software and its development actuality at present, introduces the design thought of the object-oriented technology and the development of the software engineering, briefly presents the basic concept of the object-oriented technology and the Unified Modeling Language (UML). The process of designing monitoring software by use of the object-oriented technology is discussed emphatically. Then according to this thought, a set of monitoring system software of the pump station for high press water is designed in the concrete. Finally the thesis describes the realization and the usage of the monitor system software.In the design, this paper uses popular UML as a tool, adopts some design pattern and application program frame that has been proved to be efficacious in fact, which makes design clear and design time shorter. Meanwhile, on the basis of the old method of the software design, the thesis brings forward a kind of method of software design adapt to monitoring system according to the characteristics of monitoring system.This kind of method has a few characteristics as below: 1.It adopts the object-oriented design technology, takes use of the software reuse technology, gives a thought of establishing element class library adapt to industrial control fields. 2. On the basis of the general application program frame, it develops the application program frame for monitoring system, which gives some experience for other software system in the industrial control fields. 3. The software structure is clear, new function module can be added at actual application continuously, which makes preparation for the development of software and network in the future.On the software realizes, communication between PLC and host computer is discussed in detail, the principle and the realization of serial port communication and some problem should be noticed are explained in detail, which gives some experience for other software having similar function.This system runs very well since it was put into practice, which greatly improves the enterprise's work efficiency.
