With the advancement of the information course of enterprises and the rapid growth of the Internet more and more enterprises has built their inner management networks and tend to bind them into the internet to do business. Thus, A large amount of information is obtained from kinds of channels(inner/outer). In order to make better use of the information and help make better decisions and obtain more business opportunities business intelligence(BI) is urgently needed. However, most of the existing BI application systems are built under the C/S pattern which can't cooperate with the network management(mostly under B/S pattern) smoothly. It is needed that the BI applications be built under the B/S pattern.Therefore the thesis studies on the BI architecture and technology under B/S pattern.Firstly the thesis makes research on the mainstream and representative BI solutions and analyzes and summarizes them. The analysis indicates that there are some weak points such as long development cycle and low efficiency and hardness of transplant in building BI applications by using the existing BI solutions under the 3-tier architecture based on the B/S pattern, so that we need 4-tier BI architecture.Aiming at the shortage of the existing solutions the thesis puts forward the 4-tier business intelligence architecture (4-tier BIA in brief), based on the 3-tier architecture under B/S pattern by adding analysis tier between the application tier and the data storage tier and discusses the details of functions and technologies of each tier in it. The 4-tier BIA is flexible, easy-to-use, scalable, extensible, open and transparent to the backup database. Under this architecture developers can build BI applications which can cooperate with existing e-business system smoothly in a short time by using component-based method.The thesis stresses on the function and technology of the key tier of the 4-tier BIA—the analysis tier. The import of the analysis tier not only reasonably compartmentalizes the functions of the application tier which makes the levels of the architecture clearer and makes the architecture more extensible and reusable. In addition the transparency of accessing database and the ability of migration is effectively achieved and the efficiency of accessing data is greatly improved at the same time by the encapsulation of the data at the bottom and the introduction of the database connection pool in the analysis tier.Finally the thesis applied the 4-tier BIA in the business self-help service system and built the BI applications in the system by using the component-based technology.
