This paper analyzes the developing and application of virtual reality and computer simulation. Based on the needing of port, studies the shore container crane driver simulation training ware. The paper analyzes the operation criterion, brings forward the software models' design. Building the dynamics model for real operation to control the load sway, use real simulation software -Vega,combining the virtual reality peripheral equipments such as data glove, track system, discusses the feasibility of applying virtual reality peripheral equipments to the shore container crane drive simulation. The main work of this paper include the following:1.Through combining the computer simulation ,mechanical design with the drive simulation, analyzing the structure type, basing the basic operation of shore container crane and the situation of container port, the paper designs the shore container crane drive simulation's software models.2. Summarizing the shore container crane's main parameters and organizations, analyzing the work processes of shore container crane, by VR building model software-MultiGen Creator, the paper builds the shore container crane, ship, port and containers' models, and analyzes the model methods, discusses the simulation modeling technique.3. Picking out a hard problem of crane drive simulation-load sway's real simulation, basing on the real operation method of crane driver, builds a dynamics model for load sway, dissolves the problem of load sway's real simulation.4. According the real situation of shore container crane and the operation theory of VR peripheral equipments, the paper brings forward a reasonable scheme of using the peripheral equipments, and establishs the foundation for using peripheral equipments in crane drive simulation.
