This paper introduces WCDMA Mobile Communication system in brief. The technical specification -3G TS 25.212(Multiplexing and channel coding FDD) is analysed. This essay emphasizes channel coding and decoding algorithm which includes convolutional coding, Turbo coding, rate matching, interleaving, multiplexing of transport channels, mapping to physical channel, etc. Based on the study of these algorithms, the paper gives a complete design of the WCDMA basestation symbol-rate processing. TMS320C6416 is implemented to process the coding and decoding algorithm in this design. Two pieces of such DSP are used-, one for uplink coding and the other for downlink decoding. The realization of a system design in hardware and software is discussed in detail in this essay. At last, the performance of DSP's two Decode Coprocessor is presented. The aim of this design is to verify the TMS320C6416's real processing ability in WCDMA basestation symbol-rate processing and to prepare for using this DSP in future products.
