Research And Implementation Of ATM Access Platform

Based on the former work of ATM User Access Equipment, key technologies of ATM multi-service access platform are researched. With a combination of them, a practical integrated access system is established in order to complete The National 863 Hi-tech Research Project.These technologies range from ATM physical transmission over SDH/SONET, ATM cell MUXIDEMUX, traffic management and congestion control to various physical interfaces. The implemented access system consists of two types of equipment ?COT and RT, and is configured as a ATM VP ring. The modules and interfaces in the implementation are presented with a description of what mechanisms would be met by a traffic into the system. An important interface translation circuit and configuration of traffic management mechanism is adopted to apply simply the selected IC chips into our specific environment. Some preliminary test results are provided, and some problems of the implemented ATM platform are discussed in the end.
