The Study On PDM Technology For Supporting Virtual Product Development

PDM is a framework software between the systematic supporting software and the application software, on the base of the framework, we can set up a supporting platform for the product development. This dissertation summarized the concept, technologic background and developing direcfion of PDM and virtual product development (VPD) technology, discussed feasibility of PDM for supporting VPD, at the same time, the shortage of the current PDM system is presented in such computer supported cooperative work (CSCW), product innovation design, heterogeneous model visualization, virtual reality and data security for VPD. So the PDM systematic function architecture for supporting VPD and the layer model about VPD based on PDM is put forward. After profoundly analyzed PDM system function and technological requirements for the realization of VPD, discussed PDM function such as file management, product construction management and work-flow management for virtual product development supporting in detail. Then, the concept of the product characteristics database is introduced for the first time, as well as the discussion of the realization method of the innovation design based on it. In the product development environments, the supporting of the VPD is realized in the improved CSCW environment integrated the multi-media conference system, model visualization and virtual assembly tools with the PDM. The study case is based on the background of the process of semi-armour-piercing warhead in CAEP and the development condition of hardware, software and network in Engineering Simulation Enter. Through Applying development on the Pro/INTRALINK system provided by PTC corp., we have fulfilled such as the foundation of PDM platform for virtual product development, numerical modeling of product and work-flow, IPTrganization and management, system integration and encapsulation. Based on the foundation of implement of CSCW and design of product characteristics database on Pro/INTRALINK, we have built up an improved PDM system and discussed the implementation of virtual product development in this environment.
