Conventional LTP systems are mostly of host/terminal Client/Server model. In this model, clients usually commit trsaction request to TP server by telnet.TP server receives the request and calls serving processes to handle the request, then send the result to client. The default of this model is the platitude of user interface and the inconvenience operation. With the prevailing of WWW,especial the wide supporting to multimedia information, conventional user interface based on character is more and more at a discount. So we think of moving TP system to WWW and constructing TP system based on WWW. Currently comparativle mature TP systems based on WWW are Oracle Application Server, Microsoft MTS, BEA Weblogic, Gemstone, Sybase Jaguar etc. These systems mostly provide service of distributed objects and support access to middle object by RMI and CORBA and embody driving programs linking to relation data base which enable user to access large legence data conveniently. A TP system based on WWW, WEBharmo/OLTP, is carried out by adding a middleware between client and TP servers. As to this system, the key to integrate the convetional TP servers with WWW is the middleware on WEB server. So this paper focuses on the design and realization of the middleware. The structure of this paper: The first chapter, preface, introduce the application blackground of TP system based on WWW. The second chapter deals with the basic knowledge of TP in WWW. The third chapter carries out the whole design of WEBharmo/OLTP. The forth chapter deals with the functions and the detailed design and realization of WEBharmo/OLTP. The fifth chapter is addedum which contains some important data struct and files.
