The conventional measurement of log volume in our coiilntry is manual. In the first, people measure diameter and length of log. The second, workers get one log volume by log hands. The third, workers count the numbers, then get the log volume of stock with goods. A mount of work is very hard. The thesis presents a measuring method of structured light which takes the technique of computer vision. This system can quickly measure and get the log shape and volume accurately on line with the computer vision. It develops a new method and clue on the based of analyzing many fitting algorithms, which is applying the statistics theory to analyze the log volume. It turns out that the fitting way is reliable and exact and it can suit the requirement of precision. The software for the measure system has been designed with Visual C++6.O under the Windows operation system and all parts of the software such as image collection, measure, calibration and regression have been integrated. The software has user-friendly interface and can be operated easily. According to the measuring requirements some equipments included laser groups, calibration frame and CCD groups ect. have been designed and manufactured.
