The trouble of freight car detection system (TFDS) is a popular application demanded by the department of railway now. The application of the system can overcome the disfigurements of the traditional detections, which are considered as production process and periodical overhaul, and change the human-control model to the computer combining with human-control model until the final implementation of the complete computer-control model.This paper is a continued research of TFDS. The main work can be summarized as follows: based on a presently hot research point, the Computer Vision, three methods of digit image process based on the feature analysis and selection have been designed to realize the automatic detection system, in which the eyes'identification can be substituted by the computers'. It can consummate the system'automatic detection function as well as probe into the perfect application about the completely automatic detection.The framework of the system is a Server\Client distributed model. The communication between the server and clients is based on the network protocol TCP/IP. The Oracle8i database management engine is applied in the distributed system. For the stability and security of the system, many methods were applied to avoid the exception happening in the running time. In the design of the Computer Vison, histogram equalization, Gray-scale image segmentation, edge detection of the Gradient vector, projection of thresholding image, Hough transformation and its inverse transformation are applied ingeniously.In the last part of the paper, some problems of the field test are discussed and the solutions are designed. The results of the field test demonstrated that the system function completely meets the design demand.
