Research On Factors Affecting Family Support For The Elderly In Rural China

Along with the development of population in rural, the security for elderly becomes an increasingly prominent problems. Whether past or present, the security for elderly in rural is based on the family. Rural family pension affecting by population, economic, political and cultural factors, traditional self-sufficient production mode and the traditional culture of filial piety in the concept of family pension producing main in the past, but with the development of society, economy, family structure, lifestyle factors are the present rural family endowment with more significant impact.The family support for the aged of this study is refer to the financial support providing, daily life care and mental comfort care for the elderly from adult children. Basing on the investigation of two rural community, through 20 adult children caregivers and the aged research objects, with the research method of in-depth interview, through the angle of subjective experience of both side, and their subjective feelings during the family care process, the author try to explore the factors affecting rural family pension.This article mainly from the concept of filial piety from five aspects, the diversification of endowment providers, adult children economic burden, two generations living pressure, living distance, to analyze the influencing factors of rural family pension. Through the study found:First, filial piety concept incentive adult children will support elderly parents internalizes a moral obligation and adult children hope oneself of filial piety ethics can keep up for next generation model, this model in a certain extent that family endowment the moral base more stable. Among the younger generation of filial piety in the play is weakening trend, filial piety culture as rural endowment of the cultural foundation and the lack of core, it makes the weakening functions.Second, rural family endowment providers become diversified rural households, the son is the leading provider of endowment, daughter-in-law assistance for main responsibility, son and daughter of endowment of endowment function was son-in-law to further strengthen. Diversification of endowment providers, reduce the adult children aged people, and the burden of elderly people may get more from the providers of endowment supports, make endowment of family pension old-age security function. In the process of family pension adult children uneven distribution of responsibility and liability or responsibility for each other, make old-age pension providers, at the same time, the elderly can reduce the necessary support, old age pension of old-age security will appear crisis. In the family endowment is possible with husband wife not to care for the elderly, people not only cannot get due care, and everyday life also affect her parents economic support, mental comfort, etc, the old family pension from source to the quality will be discounted.Third, rural adult children family economic burden overweight, basically nothing for family endowment savings can make arrangement, also make the family endowment against illness or accident risks ability is insufficient, make family stays in the lower level.Fourth, adult children busy with work, job or taking care of the children, take care to keep the old time limits, may make the neglect of daily life to elderly parents care for the elderly, family, especially for the old and frail elderly care function of everyday life.Fifth, elderly people rely on their own fields subsistence farming, life is hard, the burden of the elderly in quality of life were affected.Sixth, because of two generations of independent independent conception, lifestyle and social factors, rural adult children and parents have more not live together, living in rural families from the small negative influence, the elderly life care and mental comfort can get well satisfied.The future of rural family endowment faces more challenges, family endowment functions tends to weaken, many endowment the question is simply rely on family, the government cannot solve society old-age security should take more responsibility, and thereby increase rural families to resist the ability of the risk, family endowment and social endowment is the inevitable choice of state pension.
