A Study On Culture Construction Of College Town

It has been about 10 years for the occurrence in 1999 of Oriental College Town. During this period, as a new scene, college towns appeared everywhere all over China. Some problems including the lack of culture existing in college town, while the college towns do good to the development of education in China.One university can't go ahead without culture, so do the college town. Because of some reasons, the Chinese college town is poor in the heritage and creation of culture and does less in the share of culture, in which the advantage of college town is. So, the construction of culture is needed. This dissertation:'A Study on Culture Construction of College Town'wants to give some advices on the construction of college town'culture by analyzing the principles and facts.Two main qualitative research methods have been used to collect data in this dissertation: documentary study and case study. Interview is the main data-collecting tool in case study, and the documents and the data collected have been used to present and analyse the case.There are four parts in the dissertation:The first chapter is preface. The second chapter is discussing the principle, and then the content of college town'culture construction from three aspects. The third chapter focuses on the case of Guang Zhou College Town so as to explore the fact of culture construction. On that basis, the fourth chapter discloses the main disadvantages of culture construction in Chinese college town, and then proposing the corresponding solutions. At last, the author gives some suggestions to the culture construction.According to the author, there are some problems that exist in the cuture construcation of college town in our country, such as value propositon deviration, the role of the government deviration, moral culture lacking and the share of cunture degree is low. So, to promote a good cuture construcation of college town, the follwing problems should be considered:to maintain the natural mission of the college, to make the government implement its role properly, to accelerate the culture construction through promoting students'culture identity forming, and to advance the college to share the culture through accelerating forming of the colleges'culture identity. In a word, the lagging of cuture construcation of college town is not only a educational problem,but also a social problem; in order to promote the culture construction of colloge town, system construction should be used as the key method, and the forming of culture identity among colleges and the culture identity of students to their own school and the college town are also need to be accelerated.
