Music curriculum standards are not only the guidebook of the music teaching, a basis of writing teaching materials, evaluation and examination, but also a basis of management and evaluation of curriculum in our country. With the new century starting,《Music curriculum standards of the compulsory education (experimental draft)》(below brief name《standards》)which brought with enormous opportunity and challenge to the reformation and development of the music education sets out.The paper discusses the necessity of fostering creative abilities, which is focused on in Full-time Compulsory Education Curriculum Standards on Music Teaching. It also talks about the current situation and proposals on creative ability abroad and at home. Afterwards, through the investigation and anylasis, the paper tells the shortages of carrying out creative ability in music teaching. At last, it puts forward some viewpoints about how to foster studens'creative ability in music teaching. Referred to various music creative teaching abroad and at home, I make an exploration and references about music creative teaching and the development of students'creativity. My experiment got a good result during the practical teaching. This adjusts students to new curriculum standards and stimulates their interests. At the same time I discuss some problems in teaching.
