Situational Language Teaching is a widely used teaching method in English classroom teaching. The proper use of Situational Language Teaching in English classroom can stimulated students'affective experience, arouse students'interest in taking part in English learning and enhance students'willingness in taking part in class activities thus improve English teaching efficiency.In recent years, there has been more and more research conducted by scholars and teachers about Situational Language Teaching both at home and abroad. Research abroad on Situational Language Teaching mainly focuses on aspects such as application standards or principles, the development of situational textbooks and the teachers'role. Research about Situational Language Teaching in China, however, pays more attention to its application in Chinese teaching in primary schools. Research about Situational Language Teaching in English classroom includes putting forward strategies and principles for creating situation, how to use situation to help students master language knowledge or language skills and so on. However, there is comparatively little in-depth research concerns the application of Situational Language Teaching in senior high English classroom.This paper takes students and English teachers in a senior high school in Heilongjiang as its subjects, using questionnaire and interview as research tools to investigate and collect data about the application status of Situational Language Teaching in senior high English classroom. Based on the problems emerged from the survey, analysis of the possible reasons are given, interviews are then conducted by the author to discuss with teachers and students about the possible reasons of the problems. After the analysis, features of Situational Language Teaching in senior high English classroom emerged: the language of the classroom is English and Chinese; senior high school students have preferences for forms of Situational Language Teaching; teachers'preferences of using Situational Language Teaching are inconsistent with students'expectation.Based on the data analysis and interview, three teaching suggestions are then given, they are: English teachers should learn more about situational language teaching to attract students'involvements in the situational activities and lighten up situational language teaching in classroom; use the forms of SLT selectively and strengthen interaction between teachers and students to optimize the effect of Situational Language Teaching.
