The state strongly advocates that science education should be started from children.The Ministry of Education issued a notice that since September 1,2017,the starting grade of science curriculum in primary schools across the country has been changed from grade three to grade one,emphasizing the importance of science education in primary schools in the nine-year compulsory education,and has formulated a new curriculum standard and compiled new textbooks.Under the new curriculum standard,primary school science is a set of brand-new curriculum system,the nature of which is changed from the enlightenment curriculum to the basic curriculum,which puts forward higher requirements for primary school science teaching.Situational teaching method is a teaching method that takes students as the main body to create situations for classroom teaching.According to the analysis of classroom teaching needs and learning situation,teachers create appropriate situations for students,so as to mobilize their enthusiasm for learning,and so that students change passive learning to active learning,in-depth exploration and thinking,and achieve efficient teaching effects.Primary school science focuses on connecting with real life and practical operation,which itself needs to create a lot of situations,especially the explanation of geographic knowledge is more suitable for the situation mirror teaching method.The application of situational teaching method in primary school science classroom can meet the needs of primary school science teaching in the new era,which is helpful to cultivate students’ geographic core literacy,scientific thinking and practical innovation ability.On the basis of reviewing and sorting out many achievements related to situational teaching method in geography teaching and primary school science teaching,this paper combined with the content and characteristics of geography from the Elephant Publishing House version of primary school science textbooks,and focused on its existing problems,taking a primary school in Luoyang where the author works as an example.This paper studies the application of situational teaching method in primary school science classroom through literature research,questionnaire survey,interview,case analysis and classroom observation.This study investigaed the state of situational teaching method in the science classroom which teachers used and the influence of the situational teaching for students,to find out the existing problems and the reasons behind,and combining the relevant theories of situational teaching method,to solve the problems during the geography science class and put forward effective application strategies.The teaching cases related to geography knowledge in the lower,middle and upper grades were selected to carry out specific analysis and practical research.Finally,the author explored an effective situational teaching method suitable for primary school science classroom,complemented and improved the application of primary school science teaching theory and geography teaching theory for primary school science teachers,and provided teaching reference for them in primary school science teaching,so as to improve the teaching quality of primary school science.The main conclusions obtained are as follows:(1)This paper proves the role of situational teaching method in geography content of primary school science classroom: first,the situational teaching method significantly improves the teaching effect of primary school science classroom.Situational teaching method stimulates students’ learning enthusiasm and intrinsic motivation,promotes most students to understand and master primary school science knowledge,helps students to develop the core quality of geography and cultivate scientific thinking and exploration and practice ability,and effectively achieves teachers’ classroom teaching goals.Second,the situational teaching method effectively stimulates students’ interest in primary school science learning.Situational teaching method meets the requirements of the new curriculum standard and the new curriculum reform.The classroom takes students as the main body to meet the needs of students.The classroom atmosphere is active,most students participate in it,and students fall in love with learning science.(2)It is found that the main problems of geography content situational teaching in primary school science include: teachers’ insufficient cognition of geography content situational teaching method,the single and link limitations of geography context creation in teachers’ science class,and students’ lack of deep participation in geography context creation in teachers’ science class.(3)Put forward the main strategies of effective application of situational teaching method in geography content of primary school science classroom: first,strengthen theoretical learning and follow the principle of geographical content situational teaching method;second,create a variety of geographical situations based on the primary school science teaching objectives throughout the classroom;third,create appropriate geographical situation according to the situation of different grades.
