Education is the foundation of everything, and teachers are the centre of education. In-service training for teachers is one of the critical approaches to improve teachers'quality worldwide. Trainings for PE teachers follow the social climate on better teacher trainings, the needs of teachers'education and basic education reform. The trainings help to improve PE teachers' ideological understanding, knowledge, skills and comprehensive qualities, and change their teaching concept for better. It can be a systematical and organized learning activity for in-service PE teachers. A critical problem for the institutions on PE teacher training is how to run the trainings effectively and play a useful role in primary and middle schools'PE teacher human resource construction. In recent years, Beijing Institute of Education (BIE) has achieved a lot in PE teacher trainings, and has gained rich experiences. With successful implementation, BIE's PE teacher training is now in a high standard. However, with investigations, there are quite a lot of problems behind the achievements, which restricts the improvements of trainings and the training effects.This essay takes the PE teachers training system in BIE as the study subject, and uses the methods of documentary, interviewing, questionnaire, filed investigation and statistics. Combined with the theories on teachers'education and human resources management, the essay makes investigations and researches on BIE's PE teacher training. Thinking and suggestions come out through all these researches with the reference of modern personnel training, which would probably be useful for BIE's PE teacher training in turn. Research results are as follows:1. As the new curriculum reform and teachers'professional development goes further and deeper, Beijing Institute of Education will surely undertake more and more PE teacher training programs, which means higher demands on the institute. 2. Through investigations, we know that a PE teacher training system has been formed in Beijing Institute of Education and has gained satisfactory achievements. However, several disadvantages do exist:preliminary investigation on training needs is not thorough enough; the training objectives are too macro and high; the curriculum setting meets the national standards on basic education, but needs to be realistic enough for trainees; more flexible and variety of training methods are necessary; self-developed teaching materials satisfy some kind of needs of the trainees, but it is necessary to be enriched; the trainers are in good combination, but it is important to enhance the construction of teachers human resources, for example, more external teachers ought to join in the curriculum design and more good front-line teachers are demanded in the training; it's necessary to increase the training hours as needed. The assessment should be more objective and thorough; some how the training results don't meet the trainees needs.3. The analysis on training needs, training plans, the implementation of training programs and training assessments are the 4 basic elements for a training system. The thinking and researches on the training system in Beijing Institute of Education should be based on these 4 elements, and they would be useful references for better PE teacher trainings.
