Taijiquan manifested the traditional Chinese philosophy as a symbol of Chinese traditional culture. During its continuous evolution process, Taijiquan combined person's physical health, mental health with philosophy of life, which played an irreplaceable role in terms of constructing the harmony of modern society. In this paper, a survey has been conducted among the students of the North University of China in order to study the attitude of college students to Taijiquan exercise as well as the influencing factors behind the phenomenon by using of questionnaire, interview and mathematical statistics and other research methods. The research not only aimed to provide direct basis for the physical education reform of the North University of China, but also supply a reference to promote the popularization and development of Taijiquan in colleges and universities nationwide.Focusing on the survey recipients'cognition, emotional experience, exercise behavioral tendencies of Taijiquan, the questionnaire contained a total of 70 questions related to eight categories. Based on the statistical analysis of the questionnaire result as well as the interview, the author presented a comprehensive analysis of the university students'attitude of the Taijiquan exercise.The results showed that:the attitudes of college students to Taijiquan exercise, on the whole positive, but inconsistent in many aspects of performance. Both students'cognitive level and emotional level to Taijiquan were good; nevertheless, behavioral tendencies not ideal, only in the medium level. Students, subjected to the ability of physical education teachers, generally recognized the cultural identity of Taijiquan by regarding it as a special way of exercise with deep philosophy significance, and believed its positive and health care functions. On the other hand, there was also more than half of college students believe that Taijiquan was more suitable for the elderly than for college students. Physical education has a positive impact on college students to attain a correct understanding of Taijiquan, however the absence of the traditional culture education and uniform transmission mode hindered them from achieving a comprehensive cognition of Taijiquan. Students generally preferred Taijiquan especially in favor of Taijiquan performance, but few was able to experience the excited emotion. Taijiquan teaching affected college students'attitude to it, in which the teacher's personal charm promoted students'interest. To a certain extent, an incomplete recognition was harmful to develop friendly feelings to Taijiquqan. The majority of students were willing to learn and participate in Taijiquan exercise, but disagreed with investing too much time or efforts into it. Both physical education teaching and the abilities of teachers all influenced the students'willingness to participate in Taijiquan activities and it is the case when family members practicing Taijiquan. In general, students give quite objective evaluation about the exercising result——they can get access to traditional Chinese culture, regulate moods by soothing anxiety or irritability, and even safeguard or cure diseases while some thinks that Taijiquan exercise will make people less energetic. Most students have failed to develop Taijiquan exercise habits though they would like to take part in exercise independently without partner or friends affected. As a result, their behavior control tended to be instable, in other words, students always easily gave up Taijiquan exercise just because of fatigue or natural conditions changes. Physical education teaching definitely promoted the formation of Taijiquan exercise habits of college students.
