Mathematics reading is one of the hot interest of research , and research of mathematics understanding is getting more and more attention. However , these researches are carried out separately. So the author of this thesis has tried to combine mathematics reading and mathematics understanding so as to explore whether mathematics understanding level can be increased through mathematics reading.To solve the problem, on the basis of the previous researches, this thesis not only constructs the strategies to raise students'understanding level through mathematics reading, but also puts forward the concrete methods to achieve the purpose both in and outside the class. As a result of the teaching experiment, the effectiveness of the strategies and the methods are proved, and the following conclusions have been reached:1.In teaching mathematics concepts, qualities and principles, a training by combining reading aloud , reading through writing and reading through thinking will do good to the increasing of students'level of understanding mathematics.2.In teaching reading, a purposeful training of asking and answering questions by students themselves under the monitoring of students'metacognition can help students to reach the exchange of written language, symbolic language and graphic language. A natural mixture of metacognitive questioning with students'thinking process is en effective method to increase students'understanding level.3.In reading, training students to read their own homework and analyze the cause of the mistakes in combination of asking questions metacognitively can increase their level of understanding mathematics.4.Reading popular science books about mathematics outside class can increase their interest in studying mathematics, do good to fostering their initiative of studying mathematics and their wllingness to explore mathematics as well as to the increasing of their level of understanding mathematics.It is hoped that this study can help more mathematics teachers in the forefront of teaching have a good understanding of how to help raise the junior students'level of understanding mathematics through reading, thus providing them with a good reference for their reform of mathematics teaching and practice .
