School ecological environment refers to the collection about many physical factors which were based on by all kinds of personnel (mainly means students) to conduct a variety of teaching and learning activities as well as school size and class size. Physical factors mainly include the location of schools, school construction, equipment layout, school greening, classroom layout, seat arrangements and other factors as well as indoor lighting, light, color, noise, temperature and other physical conditions. School size mainly includes the school population, area, construction area and so on. Class size mainly refers to class population and average classroom area per person,etc.This research through the field survey of the middle and elementary schools in X city, LiaoNing, the goal is to find and understand the current present situation of school ecological environment in our country middle and elementary schools, to realize what problem has and which aspects need to be improved and so on. On the base of investigation, this paper discusses and analyzes some basic theoretical issues of school ecological environment such as definition, elements, characteristics and functions, etc. Combination of field survey, this paper proposes some principles to be followed when we improve the school ecological environment, and then make a number of specific measures to improve.This research has mainly used the methods of inspection and interview, and takes the middle and elementary schools and the students in X city of LiaoNing Province as investigation objects, according to the stratified random sampling method, we have carried on the sample choice to the middle and elementary schools in this city. The overall sample quantity of schools is 30, and divided into three categories: elementary school, junior middle school and senior middle school. In the elementary school selects 18 samples, in the junior middle school selects 7 samples and in the senior middle school selects 5 samples. Observation mainly carries on from two levels: outside and inside ecological environment of classroom. In the level of the outside ecological environment of classroom, we mainly observe the location of schools, school construction, equipment layout, school greening, etc; in the level of inside ecological environment of classroom, we mainly observe the internal environment layout of classroom, seat arrangements, as well as indoor lighting, color, noise, temperature and other physical conditions,and meanwhile, using the Internet resources to find the school size and class size and other factors. In the interview, we select kinds of grades'students to carry on the interview, in order to know their understandings, the existence questions and improvement methods about the school ecological environment and so on. The total of students is 73, there are 30 male students and 43 female students.Through the investigation, we find many problems in the current school ecological environment of our country, manifests in: 1.the location of schools are improper; 2.the school around environment is bad; 3.the school area per student is generally small; 4.the designs of school building are unreasonable, and the phenomenon of"beyond the standard"is seriously; 5.the school greening is very weak; 6. the sports ground and the facility lag behind; 7.in the aspect of class size, the phenomenon of massive students in the city schools is quite still common; 8. the classroom internal environment arrangement is quite simple; 9.the design of desks and chairs is unreasonable, and needs to be improved; 10.the way of seat arrangement exists flaws, and lacks of the changement.The reasons of making this kind of congdition are several aspects, not only there are macroscopic aspect reasons, like inadequate investment in education, the reason of education system and the reason of system of selecting talented persons, The government and education department lack of overall awareness, the insufficiened research about educational ecology,etc, but also there are microscopic aspect reasons, like some school leaders and teachers do not attach importance to the school ecological environment, the lack of unified planning and guidance, and inaccurate about schools'own role localization and so on. Therefore, we should adhere to the following principles when we improve the school ecological environment: educational principle, people-oriented principle, ecological principle, aesthetic principles, economical and usability principle, security principle, overall coordinative principle, original principle and so on. Considering the improvement measures or advides proposed by the students in the process of interview, in the light of problems manifested in the investigation, we propose some specific improvement measures to create a good school ecological environment for students, in order to promote the development of physical and mental health as well as academic achievement progress of students.
