The evaluation of teaching material is not only important for investigating the changes of teaching material caused by the new curriculum reform,but also important for selecting and compiling more appropriate teaching materials.However,we should not only take into consideration the factors of criteria of designing teaching materials when evaluating it,but also the effect of implementing teaching materials in practicing the new curriculum because the merits and demerits of teaching materials can only be found through application.Teachers and compilers of teaching materials will,in this way,have a proper perspective on the teaching materials designed or taught by themselves so as to promote the development of good teaching materials.Following the curriculum reform of basic education,the new textbook named "Go for it" was put into use from 2003 to 2007.Even though the large amount of literature is devoted to the design of the coursebook,little attention has been paid to evaluating its application.Therefore,it is currently of great importance to conduct a post-use evaluation to understand the present state of the implementation of this teaching material.In Huhhot,the version Go for it was used in junior high school from 2003 to 2007.In fact,two major groups of students used it,one group is from 2003 to 2006,the other group is from 2004 to 2007.In this city about 25,000 students used the book.I often heard the teachers talk about the book" Go for it".Many teachers agree that the students' English learning skills have greatly improved after studying the set of the coursebook.And the students achieved more progress in Iistening,speaking,reading and writing.Why is this coursebook so popular and efficient? What roles does the coursebook Go for It play in learning and teaching? To help the teachers to improve and perfect the application of the coursebook,and help the users of the coursebook know more about their teaching and learning, to help the learners to be apt to accept the target language and master the new knowledge easily,the author began her investigation in Hohhot.The author chose 100 teachers who used the coursebook Go for It from No.3 Middle School,No.6 Middle School,No.8 Middle School,No.16 Middle School,No.34Middle School,No.35Middle School and No.36 Middle School in the city areas of Huhhot based on a questionnaires research and an interview of ten teachers.And then the research results are analyzed.The results show that most of the teachers and students think this coursebook can meet their needs.So the author of the paper would suggest that relevant institutions, which have the right choose coursebooks,should pay more attention to teachers' and students' needs,and that the set of coursebook Go for it should be continuously used in junior high school of Huhhot.
