In China, a new phase of basic educational curriculum reform has been carried out for many years. However, there is still a lack of researches on teachers' comprehension and approval about the ideas of new curriculum and its implementation. Also, we lack researches on the effective teachers' training of New Curriculum Reform. These are the prerequisites to carry out the New Curriculum Reform smoothly. In view of these insufficient, this study attempts to take a investigation based on Junior Middle School teachers of Shanxi Province in the following four aspects: level of teachers' comprehension and approval about curriculum reform and its implementation, extent of achieving curriculum objectives among students, difficulties in the curriculum reform implemented, and requirements of teachers' professional training. This study uses such methods as questionnaire survey and interview. The result shows that the level of Junior Middle School teachers' comprehension and approval about the ideas of the New Curriculum Reform and its implementation is higher, which indicates that the teachers have given a strong support to the current curriculum reform objectives both in ideas and actions. To be specific, they approve the curriculum reform objectives most, and then is the level of comprehension about it. Due to incomplete comprehension, so the level of implementation is relatively less low. From another perspective, it reflects that teachers still need to improve their level of comprehension and implementation about curriculum reform objectives. The low level of curriculum reform implementation is closely related to the difficulties in the process of curriculum reform. The survey suggests that there are three major difficulties regarded by teachers, which are the issue of match between curriculum reform and the present examination system, the conflict of curriculum implementation and large capacity class, the need for complete teaching aid and experimental appliance. The difficulties show that curriculum reform is not merely educational ideas innovation, but also has close relation with evaluation system and educational resources. In the survey of "requirements of teacher's professional training", result shows that teachers are in great need of renewing and developing their teaching skills and modern educational technology. Relatively speaking, the knowledge of pedagogy and psychology, the development and study of school-based curriculum and the concept of new curriculum are less urgent. In addition, result shows that in the aspect of evaluation on training ways, teachers approve expert's lectures and reports rather than regular teaching research and short-term courses training which need to be improved further. To sum up, whether the New Curriculum Reform can be implemented effectively, the teachers' attitudes and actions towards it and their training in its process are key factors. The purpose of this research is to set an example and expect to bring great concern on this subject.
