| Since the establishment of the College of Education in Beijing Normal University in 1923,China has been cultivating pedagogical talents for almost eighty-five years. The graduate education in the major of education has made its rapid improvement in recent 20 years, which can be illustrated by the enlarged scale of the enrollment and the increasingly reasonable subject system.Thereby a large number of talented people have been cultivated and a model with Chinese characteristics to cultivate graduates formed. However, such model is still relatively lagging behind, especially at the international level. It was established on the base of the traditional framework within which teachers specializing in pedagogy in the secondary normal colleges were cultivated. Many problems embedded in the model have already been uncovered in the current context of globalization and knowledge economy, including the obscure target, the narrow scale of specialties and majors;the obsolete curriculum and syllabus, the over-simplified teaching style, and the inconsistency of education theory and practice, and so forth.Apart from this reality,it is also noted that graduates with the bachelor's degree can hardly meet the demands and the challenges in the society, which can fairly explain why the level of cultivating talents majoring in pedagogy keeps improving. Thus, the society is crying for all-round postgraduates in pedagogy who have a sound academic basis and high quality, adaptable to various jobs and requirements. Therefore, this research, adopting methods such as literature review, survey, comparative study and theory analysis, explores into the different models of cultivating pedagogical postgraduates inside and outside China. It first goes through the formation and development of the model in China chronically, and then analyzes the evolvement and components of the models in three developed countries, namely,Germany,America and Japanese. From there, this research begins to see into the status quo and the existing problems of the model of cultivating pedagogical postgraduates in China. It seeks to explain the reasons contributing to those problems.Based on the above analysis, this research proposes a basic assumption to improve the present model in China with the aim of cultivating high-level professionals. The improved model, first of all, should follow the inherent and exterior principles of education in order to reform the cultivation targets, process(including the recruitment and the length of schooling, the curriculum structure, the tutorship),and appraisal methods. Then the postgraduate, who are of sound academic basis and high quality, and adaptable to various jobs and requirements, can be cultivated. |
