Economy booming, compulsory education is under great development and there is an increasing demand of primary school teachers. Since the major of primary education was established in 1998, it has been set up in more than 100 colleges and universities. In education reform, the training of primary school teachers has transformed from the third-level normal school to the second-level, which follows the global trend. Therefore, it is meaningful to research the training program and train elementary school teachers who can answer the call of the time. The ministry of education issued "The Professional Standards for Teachers in Primary School (Trial)" in 2012, which is essential to guarantee the quality, training, employment and evaluation of primary school teachers. The author compares the training program of primary school teachers and "The Professional Standards for Teachers in Primary School (Trial)". With investigation and research, this thesis studies the deficiencies and gives advice on improving the program.Using methodology such as literature analysis, comparative study and investigation, this thesis consists of five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction, introducing research background, research design and methodology.Chapter Two reviews the training program of the major of primary education. It begins with definition of the major of primary education, training program and the main content of training research. Besides, it includes the training in developed countries and relative literature on the same theme.The third chapter analyze the training cases of primary education major, sorting out training programs of five normal school and comparing those with the "Standards". The comparation is focused on four factors:training target, training specification, curriculum and education practice.Chapter Four summarizes the deficiencies of the training programs based on comparation and explores the reasons.The last Chapter offers advice for the training programs.
