The football course is a favorable PE course among college students.Its teaching effect, however,has been downgrading as more and more students pouring into the college. Because they generally lack fundamental knowledge and skills of playing football,it is impossible for them to reach a standardized level through traditional way of regular practices within a short period of time.It has been proved that teaching would be energy consuming, inefficient and troublesome if a teacher failed to select and utilize an appropriate teaching method.Therefore,to adopt an appropriate teaching method becomes the crux of teaching success.The present study,via a questionnaire and experimental teaching practices of the male students of the University of Shanxi Datong,plus an analysis of the references and documents,examined the rationale,outstanding features,evaluation and feasibility of a new teaching method:Comprehendible Teaching,and proved that this method is feasible theoretically.Experimental teaching practices prove that,compared with traditional methods, it is equal in improving students' physical condition but more efficient in raising the consciousness,skills of the football game and using of the skills in the game.The results from the questionnaire show that it can raise the students' interests and enthusiasm in football playing and enhance their integrative abilities as well.In conclusion,the new method is favorable to college football teaching and will present a positive push on college football teaching revolution.
