Purpose To investigate the safety status for primary and secondary school students and the management condition of the school safety; To reveal the relation between the safe knowledge, safe technical ability, dangerous behavior and the unintentional injury for teenagers and to find the impact factors for them. To find out the existent shortage in the management work of the school safety to provide science basis for the healthy growth for teenagers.Methods We investigated 4600 students and 137 school physicians defined by Stratified Sampling, using and respectively which were designed by ourselves. We used epidata 3.0 to establish databases, and used SPSS13.0 for statistic analysis.Results 1. The awareness rate of the safe knowledge of the daily life is better than the disaster knowledge. The awareness rate for the knowledge of electric shock protection, gas poisoning and drowning salvage is the best, attaining 24.8%, 24.1% and 20.9% respectively. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that common school, introverted personality and parents do not usually tell safe knowledge forwardly are disadvantageous factors, while, female, higher class, higher education background for father, higher total earnings of the family are beneficial factors.2. The awareness information for the safe technical ability is irregularity. The awareness rate for electric shock protection and fleeing for life when accidental fire inside building attains 91.6% and 88% respectively, but only 29.2% students reported they can use fire extinguisher correctly. Multivariable linear regression analysis showed school type, sex, personality, grade and parents'education background are the impact factors for the safe technical ability.3. The incidence rate of breaching traffic regulations such as not wearing safety belt when taking bus is high commonly. 23.3% students thought or even did suicide at one time, and 27.9% students though or even tried to leave home at one time, which also allows of no to neglect. Multivariable linear regression analysis showed school type, sex, personality, grade, total earnings of the family, safe technical ability, mother'education background and whether mother usually tell safe knowledge forwardly or not are the impact factors for the dangerous behavior.4. The total incidence rate of the unintentional injury reaches to 26.4%. 24.9% take place at school and 22.0% at home. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that common school and dangerous behavior were both the dangerous factors, while, female, higher class and the safe technical ability are protective factors.5. The safety device and rule construction are different for different schools. While, safety rule and training work are worse commonly. 46.4% investigated students think the most important problem for safety management is not having no safety rule but school current most of safe manage a problem is not having no safe system but the performance is poor.Conclusion The safe knowledge and the safe technical ability for primary and secondary school student are limited, the dangerous behavior incidence rate for teenagers is always high, and the occurrence of the unintentional injury is affected by sex, the dangerous behavior and school environment, etc. The school safety management is not taken seriously and the safety education is limited. The status should to be improved by the behaviour intervention, YRBSS and evaluation indicators system about coping capability of public security emergency, etc.
