On Entrepreneurship Education In American Colleges And Universities

The Entrepreneurship Education, as a new education idea proposed by West Country in the late-1980s, is the result of education forwardly adapt to economy and the request of the world economic development.Entrepreneurship education is one kind of the educations to cultivate and enhance the viability of the students. It embodies not only the connotation of education for all-around development, more emphasis on the changing concept of students* employment, but to heighten the students' entrepreneurship awareness, and to enhance the capacity of Entrepreneurship. It is "the third book" of the education passport after the culture education and the skill education, is one of the world trends of development of higher education, and is also the new luminescent spot and the necessary choice of China higher education reformation in the 21st century.Entrepreneurship education originated from America and has a leading position in the world. Undertaking Entrepreneurship Education is also necessary in our educational reformation and in colleges' organizational transformation. Study on America's Entrepreneurship Education gives us lots of references to our higher education.This article is divided into six parts. Part I gives a general introduction to Entrepreneurship Education by discussing Entrepreneurship Education's starting and concept; Part II elaborates the Entrepreneurship Education's background about American University; Part III expatiates the Entrepreneurship Education's development process about American University; Part IV discusses the American University Entrepreneurship Education's goal,the curriculum,the teaching method and so on; Part V studies the characters the American University Entrepreneurship Education in the foundation which is analyzed above, then proposes the challenges which will be faced and the trend of development; Part VI is based on the above contents. Comparing to Entrepreneurship Education of american universities, lists the insufficiencies of Entrepreneurship Education in Chinese universities, and obtains some enlightenments.
